The beauty curtain
An old game show called Lеt's Mаkе a Deal used to offer contestants a choice between a small sum of money or whatever was hidden behind a huge curtain on stage - it could be a car, or it could be nothing. Some contestants would play it safe and take the money; others would choose the prize behind the curtain. Defining female beauty is like that. Some people are happy to leave it a mystery and enjoy its small rewards: something pretty to look at and a sort of raw but directionless inspiration. However, those who define female beauty as the representation of values win something more exciting than anyone ever imagined: the knowledge that values are real and objective.
